Agathé Patisserie - Croissant

Documenting Melbourne Croissant’s - Number One

I don’t think I have ever left the South Melbourne Market without a treat from Agathé Patisserie. It almost feels sacrilegious to do so. Come to think of it, I don’t think I have ever been to Agathé and not waited in a queue with many other’s who were also enticed by their buttery treats.

My favourite thing to get are their Madeleine’s, especially when they’re still hot out of the oven.

Yesterday I got one of the plain croissant’s for the first time for this project. The croissant was very flaky, crispy and buttery, just like a croissant should be. It was also a bit too brown and a tiny bit burnt, but it still tasted pretty good.

There is also an Agathé Patisserie in the CBD, but I’ve never managed to get there before they sell out. They are definitely very popular and in high demand.

My insta-friends have told me that I need to go back to try the apple turnover and the heart shaped pastry that’s filled with custard. This bakery is also known for their fun takes on croissant, such as pandan and matcha.
