Just as quickly as it was announced that Pier Paolo Piccioli is out as the creative director at Valentino, it was announced that Alessandro Michele is in. Michele is the new creative director at Valentino, with his debut collection expected during fashion week this September. Michele was out from Gucci in November 2022 and was a big part of the return of maximalism - at the brand and in fashion in general. It will be interesting to see how much of his Gucci vibe will come through to Valentino. What is not interesting is this fashion circus where designers get recycled from brand to brand. Robin Ghivan of the Washington Post accurately stated “The fashion carousel goes round and round.” Designers
