THE CYRA SKIRT

A short-stride season

This was my last winter purchase, though funny enough, it was the first thing I wanted.

I waited. Bought the Nora skirt instead, which became a staff favourite. Everyone at Alpha bought one. Customers loved it. It sold out. We re-cut it.

I picked Nora first because of how it moved. The Cyra skirt, with its cocoon shape, restricts your stride. If you're chasing a tram, you have to hike it up. But now that I own it, I love that part. The short steps. The stillness. The deliberate pace.

When I wear it with socks and my Lee Mathews slides, I feel like a Geisha taking slow, careful steps. It’s a quiet reminder to take my time.

The cotton fabric has a beautiful texture, cool to the eye, easy to style. Dressy tops, tees, knits. It works with everything. That’s the thing about Alpha: most of their pieces flex both ways.

Winter ‘23 became my season of long black skirts. The Cyra is my fourth. Maybe I’ll show you the others next time.
