STYLING SIDE NOTES | the mesh form observed

THE MESH FORM, OBSERVED
A slipper in a dream

I didn’t know I wanted them until I saw them twice. Once on my brother’s girlfriend, green, mesh, sparkling softly in the light. The second time in Milan, at 10 Corso Como, where they sat among other quietly beautiful objects.

I kept thinking about them. Every now and then. And eventually I realised: they’d found their way onto my wishlist.

They’re called the Minette — a mesh flat covered in crystals by Christopher Esber. Slipper-like, minimal, and dusted with shimmer. The kind of shoe you forget until you see them again, and again.

But they also reminded me of something I’d forgotten. A pair of pink mesh slippers I wore in the 2000s. Sheer, embroidered, cheap, and meant for home. But I wore them out. Everywhere. Until they fell apart and my mum made me throw them out. They’ve actually come back into fashion again, and maybe that’s what I love most about these shoes. They sit at the edge of memory and now.

Since then, I’ve started recognising their shape everywhere. The Row. Bottega. Khaite. All whispering the same silhouette. Mesh. Minimal. Soft, close to the foot, almost indoor. Ballet. Hosiery. Nostalgia. Now.

This is my drawing of them. My way of keeping track of the things I almost missed.

Side Note:
