The GANNI Bou Bag (Black, Mini)
When your style equation is missing a variable

The Brief

I was in search of a new bag. I had a personal brief:
Black.
Small enough for night-time essentials: phone, keys, lipstick, hand cream.
Chic.
Cute. It had to be cute.
And it needed a crossbody strap.

I’d reached the point where I simply didn’t have one. I did, technically, but the handle had broken. I’d repaired it twice, and it was starting to look tired.

In the meantime, I’d been using (and loving) my black nylon Baggu crossbody. I even included it in a post about Melbourne’s most-seen bags. I’m not a snob, but after my trip to Milan and Paris, and not seeing a single Baggu in sight, I knew it was time to evolve. The European women were carrying polished, structured bags. Crossbody, yes. But considered.

The Rule

Sam and I made a post-trip fashion rule. Everything we buy, and wear, needs to fall into one of two categories:
Fun or Polished.

The Bou Bag sits somewhere in between. Which makes it perfect.

The Moment

I spotted it again at Sally’s GANNI styling event. The mini Bou Bag in black. Structured. Chic. Playful. The only hesitation? It had gold hardware. And I’m a silver girl. Always have been.

I quietly debated with myself the entire night. But the bag itself was perfect. And the gold? Maybe a good nudge. I’ve been trying to add more warmth, more unexpected choices. Maybe the gold would lead the way.

I bought it. They placed it in dust bag and gave me a leopard scrunchie. A GANNI party favour.

The Result

It’s been almost a month now, and I wear it constantly. It’s the missing piece. The thing that makes simple outfits feel finished. People compliment it every time. Especially other cool, stylish women. That’s always the best kind of compliment.

Sometimes I wear it crossbody. Sometimes I carry it. Sometimes I tuck it under my arm like a baby. It goes with everything. It elevates everything.

Worth every cent.
